Well this work for Casting

I want to play at some with casting. I've been shopping Craigslist and last weekend I picked up this pressure pot while I was visiting my Daughter. It came with the hoses and spray gun, I got it for $75 (good, bad?). It guy said he only used it once. I have to believe him, there was only one color paint on it that I could find. I also found the little Air Vac while helping my wife clean out my MIL's house (she recently passed away). I don't know anything about the Air Vac other than it is from Harbor Freight. Will it work as a vacuum pump for casting? I want to make a pressure/vacuum setup.

DeVillbiss is one of the beter names when it come to spray guns. Generally the guns are $100 retail. I would bet bottom dollar the pot is 10 times better than the HF pots. Your gesket may need replaced depending how long he had it and how he kept it. Vasaline it up and put 60psi in it over night. If it is at 55psi in the morning you got yourself a winner.

Sorry, Paul, but this will not work at all for resin casting. You should immediately box it up and send it to me so that I can properly dispose of it for you.

Actually, this is one of the better pots out there and it should give you years of trouble-free service. Just be sure to check the gasket/o-ring to make sure it is in good condition. I have found that just sitting unused will sometimes cause the seal to "dry rot".
