Weed pots

Here are a few weed pots I made. First one is Russian Olive and is a little less than 6" tall. The second is natural edge oak that was off center turned. The last is a Multi axis turn out of some kind of spalted oak. This wood came from the tornados in Dallas back in October. Finish on all 3 is danish oil that has been buffed out for a satin finish

Bean Counter, check at your local farm and ranch supply for cedar fence staves. Strip the bark off by hand and set them outside for a month or 2, then cut to length, they make great looking natural edge weed pots. Also very cheap, For variation, pick up a couple of cedar fence posts, and do the same with them. Great looking natural edge short squatty weed pots, or even some small bowls, again the cost of the blanks will be minimal.

Be extra nice to the yard man and tell him what you are doing with them, he might throw in a reject or 2 for free.

Tony, they're called Weed Pots, because they usually are to small for anything but weed flowers. They usually don't have the capacity to hold much more then a couple of weeds, because they are not hollowed out. You can drill whatever sized hole for weeds/flowers, there is not set rule on size.

Great question Tony. At first I thought it was for storing another kind of weed . I think I just flashed back to the 60's.
