What's a wedgie sled please?? I have various ideas in mind but any photos? Ken has some brilliant jigs I am trying to copy. He did put a jig thread up somewhere that's worth a look but can't find the link right now

What designs or dimensions of segments are you thinking of?

I have used a disk sander, angled blocks, double-sided tape to make designs like these. I can get the links to previous threads if there is interest.

I have not built the wedgie sled but do have the angle pieces that you can buy. I use them to build various sleds that are needed at the time. Being laser cut they are very accurate. But as mentioned as you get into segmenting pens you will find you need to designs ways to hold small pieces because the canvas you are working with is quite small. But there are many examples in the library as well as the segmenting section of blank making. If you have specific questions just ask and I am sure they will addressed easily.

I think I will make a sled and see if it works out for small stuff. I will update on my progress.
Thanks all for your input.

I am looking the start learning to making chevrons for segmenting. What kind of double sided tape do you use for sanding these small size pieces?

Scotch brand. Bought from Staples, nothing special.

For Chevrons, I do not us double sided tape, I use it for other designs.

If you were not aware: IAP Library - Segmenting.

Any questions, shoot me a message!

I am just starting in experimenting with the chevron pattern. I just started segmenting about 3-4 weeks ago. I am still working on my very first chevron blank, but I am finding the key is accurate measurements and good cuts on the table saw. I am learning by using an article by Mark James in the IAP library. https://www.penturners.org/resources/m2-simple-brick-chevron-ii.157/

Very first attempt so I know it is not perfect, but the article I mentioned really helped make it clear for me what is involved with making a chevron blank and shorten the learning curve. If you ever want to discuss the process with another chevron newbie, just let me know.

The biggest key to making chevrons is not the angle cut but the thickness of each slice. Any deviation throws the angle off and thus misaligned points. If using different sized layers make sure you keep them aligned when gluing up the angle. I like to use witness marks so that I know the cuts lay against each other exactly.

Thanks for the guidance John. That makes sense and is probably something I would have missed.
