OK I have a first coming up in June of next year. I know a long time away but if you are anything like me, time slips by quickly and next thing you know I am scrambling.

My Nephew is getting married. I want to make them wedding pens. Here is where you all come in. I started going through some old posts where people have done this and started getting some good ideas. I thought I would throw this out there and possibly I can pick bits and pieces and make a cool looking wedding pen for the happy couple.

Looking for ideas in pen kits, pen blanks ( was thinking pearl white and pearl black truestone)) (waiting for Ed to get some in:smile:), Engraving of some sort and where to get this done, Also a cool looking box with possibly engraving on this with a nice saying.

If you have photos, would be glad to see them. I will try to get a decent jump on this project. Thanks.

I normally use pearl white for the cap with the names and date engraved. For the lower barrel, I try to incorporate either the design or the colors from the invitation. With your segmenting skills, I would try to to play with the colors rather than use black. May put a little more time pressure on you, but you could always have a backup.

i've always wanted to do a wedding set starting with a double sized segmented blank, glue it up as one large blank, then cut it in half and make the pens, then when presented side by side they would look like they join. (does that make any sense?)

The blanks you have planned sound great but I think I would only engrave the box.
Both my husbands nephews got married last year and both the couples asked me not to have the pens them self engraved so they could use them at work.
I guess is they would be a keep sake then maybe the engraving on the pens would be nice,
Alice

From the conversation, it sounds like you are looking to do something more elaborate. Should you want to keep it simpler, here are some pictures of a set of pens I made for a relative's wedding in Germany this fall. I thought the whiteness of the Masur Birch said "wedding", and I used a commercial box. The set, as you can see was of Jr. Gent II's RB & FP. Russ

Wow I asked and you people have not disappointed. You are giving me alot to think about.

Mack nice pens. Now that I see the Black pearl and the white pearl I like it even more. I am not sure if they even know what the colors are going to be yet. But I maybe able to do something there with some kind of segmenting.

You have now got me thinking twice about the engraving on the pens:confused: I see Mack did not.

Thanks keep them coming.

My daughter just got married so you can't see hers, but my son is getting married next June. Ebony and American holly, aluminum inlay on EB's. Both will have about 10 coats of thin CA. I have to start next week or I'll never get them done!

My personal preference would be to do solid colored bride and groom's pens. The symbolism of purity in doing so stands out to me. I would refrain from engraving too. Maybe some nice glass display cases with their names and wedding date etched in that.

Now if there's a pen for signing the registry I say go wild with segments in colors that match the wedding themes. I did this for my own wedding, but I cast the blank (can't segment very well).

These came to mind when I thought of a wedding pen.
