WAX

There has been some discussion on using and making wax and there were a few questions left unanswered.

The best wax reference that I know of for the woodworker of any stripe is the article in Fine Woodworking, Issue-140.

This article discusses waxes, the different types, how we use them, and several recipes for making our own. It is worth purchasing for anyone who wants to get a start on an education in wax.

Don't ask me to send you a copy from mine because I can't find it. t. You will have to go to Fine Woodworking and buy a copy or find someone else with a copy.

Careful there, Russ, I started a topic on wax on another sight and I had to delete 30 reply notifications a day from my inbox and nearly started another holy war.

I think wax is great for antler, but I would never use it on wood.

I (and I think Russ also) use wax as a post-finishing step. It, put it on your CA finish/lacquer finish as a final step. I also use solid bricks of carnauba to finish oily woods like lignum or cocobolo.

I have found the TSW or Ren wax is great after your finish has cured and some pens it even seems to help out just IMO now !!
