Buy natural cobs and some dye.

I have not made these in years, so they could be better now, but when I turned dyed blanks, I always had to redye them once I got to the final size, anyhow. That way, you can also control the color.

FWIW,
Ed

<<-- love corn cob pens. I tried to save some cobs from corn last year, but apparently I did something wrong and they molded. I would love to try some again. I suspect Terry might be overwhelmed with people wanting to try some with his offer. I would also be interested if you have any available Terry

Thanks

Like Ed says dye them after you get them turned. I can send you cobs (no charge) if you pay shipping.

Terry, are you sure you know what your getting yourself in to. I have been wanting to stabilize and dye. I would take a medium size box of corn cobs, pm the info to pay you.

Thank you

My wife bought me a few bags of popcorn on the cob.
The cobs are a little smaller so seem to work better for pens and after you microwave the cob to pop the corn it's good and dry. Turned close to size then started adding CA to stabilize. No reason you couldn't soak in dye and dry again before adding the CA. I use an alcohol based dye for my wood blanks mainly because it flashes off and dries much faster than water based.
