One of Australia's most sacred and rare timbers is waddywood. Only grows is a few remote desert areas of Australia and in very small numbers and is extremely protected.

A 'waddy' or 'nulla nulla' is an aboriginal name for a war club, used for hunting, combat and in ceremonies. (Pictured last in my photos)
Hence the nickname 'waddywood' was given to this tree.

Acacia Peuce is an extremely dense timber. Janka rating of 4630. To give you an idea, Lignum vitae is 4500, and if you've turned Lignum, you know how hard this is.

The cap is still fully lined with ebonite.
Section is also. The barrel is just partially sleeved. Finished with my boiled linseed oil burnish.

Interesting to hear about this "new" wood !

I love working with Australian woods, and learning about their characteristics. . Most are very useful for pens.

Great looking pen, Casey ! ! . . Thanks for showing !

Thanks for showing another bonzer pen, Casey, and the background as well.
That 'stick' looks like a fearsome weapon..... the Australian form of a Shillelagh.
