My friend just completed restoration of his 1975 Corvette. I decided to make him a pen. Having decided to do this, I was somewhat surprised to find out that Chevy changes the emblems, badges and fonts just about every model year. I couldn't take detail pictures of his car because that would have raised suspicions. It took me a while to track down the designs for 1975 on the web. I ultimately had to hand draw the textual elements because I couldn't find fonts that were close enough.

Sadly, 1975's emblem was probably the least suitable for including on a pen. But, authenticity trumps artistry so I stayed true to the model year, even if I could have made a more striking pen if I had allowed myself to take some artistic liberties.

It's a 5 color (not counting clear) cast on a Black Titanium / Platinum Elegant Button Click Sierra.

On my computer, the thumbnails colors in the post look funny. Clicking or hovering shows more accurate colors. Go figure????

Nicely done! I've had it on my radar to make one for myself ('91). Not nearly as cool as a '75, but still officially a classic now.

For the record, the emblem changes by what they call "generation." The '75 was a "C3", or the 3rd generation that ran from 1968 to 1982. Although, the '78 to '82 models were pretty drastically different from the earlier C3's, including dropping of the "Stringray" moniker.

Gary - They did a lot of tinkering with the emblems within generations in the earlier years. '75 and '76 are the same, but before and after not so much.

The 1991 emblem would be much easier to implement and (in my opinion) more visually striking on a pen. The details inside the 1975 emblem are so small that I had to make the emblem on the pen bigger than I wanted to have any chance of people being able to see the details without magnification.

My friend really liked the pen and I guess that's what matters most in the end.

Interesting stuff. I guess I was only going off of what all the "Corvette Gear" vendors sell with emblems on. I'm still going to make myself a 'Vette pen one of these days.
