I'm going to be in the Anchorage area for a couple weeks at the and of July, early August. Anybody know of any places in that area to get some interesting materials for pen making or woodworking in general? I won't be able to. Ring back big stuff but I'd like to bring something back to make a pen or something to commemorate the trip. Thanks for any info.

When I went there I simply mailed items back- $5 box at the post office, as much as you can fit in. Alaska is beautiful and there is so much to see. Are you renting an RV? Going on a cruise? I went up to the Arctic Circle and found branches from some black spruces that grow there and turned them into pens for me and my wife. There is also the Alaska Horn & Antler shop in Soldotna where I picked up lots of scraps of moose antler, mammoth ivory, soapstone, etc. Mailed it all back.

Thank you Andrew! I honestly get a great deal of satisfaction from gathering materials to share with you guys.

Jason PM sent.
