FYI: This weekend, Nov 5-6 is the Virginia Symposium in Fishersville.
If anyone can come, please do. Check out their website for their line up of top Woodturning professionals.
Barry Gross will be there for the pen folks.
There will be many professional demos, hands on help, youth turning as well as all the vendors.
A good time for sure.

Welcome

Welcome

It is in Fishersville, Virginia. (Think Waynesboro)

It is a pretty good trip for me, about 2 hours, and I am still considering. I really want to go, but I need to improve my skills more. After being away from turning for 5 years or so, I need to get more time behind my gouges and skew before I worry about making 'fancy' stuff.

With the likes of Jimmy Clewes, Trent Bosch and Bob Rosand there should be lots to see and learn. (no offense, I wouldn't walk across the street to see Barry Gross!)

I am able to talk myself into and out of going so far, it will probably be Friday night before I decide!

If you do go, PLEASE take lots of pictures!

Michael, Come on down.....or kick yourself for 2 years till the next Va Symposium.

10 professional demonstrators for about $80...for 2 days...you can pay that much or more for a 3 hour class at your local ____craft store.
There are also skill enhancement sessions and training for those wanting help with turning.

Hope to see you there.

Wonderful time at the Virginia Symposium today!

Demos, vendors with lots of tools and loads of burls, blanks...and more wood!
16 professional demos today!....and more tomorrow!

The show and tell tables are laden with so many awesome turnings......I don't know if I could even pick a favorite!

Wifey's car already smells like camphor!.......we have a few blanks in the trunk....not junk  Some beautiful pieces:smile:

Another highlight for us is meeting up with woodturning friends.
Just before leaving this afternoon, I heard my name and it was a fellow turner with a sweet smile and a big hug! She and I were in a workshop back in the summer. Made my day!......Thanks Eva Jo!
