A dear friend (and retired police detective) with a Sherlock Holmes-like taste for mystery and stunning problem-solving skills requested a quartet of fountain pens - welcome chance to marble from dark-to-light - (chiaroscuro technique, way short of Rembrandt, but fun nonetheless):
I like the Daniel Smith Mars Black watercolor ground - nice and thirsty for color - 2 coats on acetone-cleaned brass tubes, dried x 48 hours between coats, then alum'ed before each of the two marblings.
This was also a chance to test the pigment saturation/covering capacity of Golden High Flow acrylics with or without a little mica mixed in - and please see my recent posts detailing marbling techniques:
Marbled once, and then again.
First cast member inviting the others onto the stage.
Companionable quartet.
Bottoms.
Tops.
The colors cover well.
He's happy.
Warm regards - and Happy Wednesday - Bob
(next little effort will be marbling on Daniel Smith Transparent Ground)
