For those of you that have worked with vintage cellulose, what is the best diameter for making pens? I have a few 12mm that I'm not sure what to do with, but I have an opportunity to buy some other sizes and wanted advice before I bought it.

If any of you have made a pen with 12mm stock, I would love to see any pictures might have.

Many Thanks,

Jason

You could make a pen with 12mm threads and have a contrasting colour cap like this (I matched the finial and section to the cap):

Alternatively you could front thread the pen so the cap doesn't envelope the section but just covers the nib. Like the old fashioned safety pens. This is what I did with thin stock here. It's a bit of work to get the section made but the overall effect is quite nice.
