My impression of the Vendor Forums is:

Now that Vendor Forums have been active for a while, I'd like to collect some feedback from members (not the vendors... that'll be a separate question to them).

Please vote in this poll, and provide comments in this thread if you wish.

I'd like to know:

Do you find the information and format useful?
Have you posted in a vendor forum and gotten a helpful response?
Is there anything that stands out as really good or really bad about these forums?

I like the vendor forums and read them the same way as all other threads - if a thread looks interesting, I'll read it, if not I don't click on it. There are clearly some vendors that make fuller use of the opportunities they provide.

It is fun to see artist bios and extra information about products. For a short time, when multiple sub-vendors started creating multiple threads, it got a bit overwhelming, but that initial exuberance seems to have calmed. Do the forum sponsors have control over the threads started in their areas?

Overall, I like them.
 
I find the Vendor Fora to be most useful. I have learned quite a bit about new products and am enjoying Ed Brown's Sunday flicks.

Let's hope other IAP vendors join the bandwagon.
 
I was able to inquire of specific product info, which then generated an inquiry back to the manufacturer to get the answer. Also others with experience specific to the topic were able to add their inputs. This appears to be a useful type of forum, and I think many on IAP will use it themselves for their needs, but also scan the forum out of general interest.

Chris, no they don't have control over who starts threads. The people starting threads should be (1) the vendor talking about pretty much anything -- his products, services, or business; (2) a legitimate partner of the vendor talking about his product; (3) a general member with a question for the vendor.
 
I've found the vendor fora(ums) useful and entertaining. I think it was a good addition to IAP.

I've also learned (thanks to this thread) that fora is the plural of forum (in latin). I'm still unclear whether anybody other than an ancient roman time traveler (walshjp17?) would use that instead of "forums" though. :biggrin:

If we ever get a dictionary vendor, I'll be sure to ask.

I read the vendor forum daily. I have purchased from quite a few of them and they are helpful and questions get answered right away. I enjoy Ed's videos and look forward to Sundays . :star:

I think they have improved the forum. It gives you a chance to point blank ask a question and have someone answer without the post getting deleted. I like that the whole forum is not a continual sale with people arguing over who has the best slimline. Great idea Jeff, way to improve the experience on IAP. "The IAP Experience" trademark done by Ed DePietro, not to be used without written permission of Ed DePietro Inc. (A cheesy Ricky Bobby reference)

Dare I mention the bride arena? They have vendor forums, vendor events and shows. Other areas that I know effectively has this type setup is thehighroad.org, calguns.net, silencertalk etc. in fact this setup is very common in the firearm community.
