Though not directly pen related, there's a new turning toy in my shop

It's actually pretty simple. A vacuum pump pulls air through the tubing. The manifold allows a gauge, tubing and a relief valve to be combined in one unit. The relief valve lets you control how much vacuum is provided by allowing air to come into the valve.

The rest is just a connector that allow the lathe to turn without twisting up the tubing, and a chuck that the wood is gripped to.
