I was provided some additional wood, salvaged from the USS Texas (BB-35) when it was refitted at the San Jacinto Memorial near Houston. These sets will go to members of the USS Texas Foundation board.
The darker wood appears to be walnut and turns easily but is very powdery. The lighter wood is a very dense pine with narrow growth rings and turns producing small ribbons.
The boxes are from Kallenshaan Woods.
