update on pen press,,,,,

Hi Folks,
I posted a few weeks ago about a drill press I got for free and planned to turn into a pen press. Well, after a couple of changes and some help from "firefighter-EMT (Lee), it's done and works awesome. Lee shipped me some corian for the pads. It was one of the major changes I made, and I'm glad I did. I have assembled a few pens with it and I am very pleased. Super control and very easy to press accurately. I did a Euro tonight and got the transmission exactly where I wanted it.
And again, thanks to "fuzzydog" for the drill press. And of course, all the parts are in a drawer just in case.

Now that is one slick idea. I really like it and if I could find one to modify, I think my arbor press could be in big trouble[8D][]

Though the idea is a great use of a freebie and does the job I would have left it as a DP if it still worked.I would love a second DP for milling the blanks.To each his own.

Steve, that certainly looks like one big heavy pen press. It looks like you could crack coconuts with it, too![]

Cool, you guys are giving me ideas. I wish I had bought a pen press, instead of my half ton arbor press. This works great, if space isn't a problem.

Looks good!
You could make a base like that for the arbor press. Or modify the original to work. I faced mine off a little to allow more room under the ram before I made my press.

Thanks Paul, you have rattled my brain cells and jumped started my creative juices. Maybe there is still hope for my Arbor press [}][]

Actually it's not as heavy as it looks. Easily moves with one hand. Stoes up and out of the way nicely.
Used it some more and love it. Great control and smooth as can be.

Very cool press...It got me thinking as well since I now am using a broken vise, lol.
