Again, for those not privy to Facebook posts:
The past few days have been positive. Ernie had several roommate changes. The first was a screamer, the second was handcuffed to his bed (not Ernie's!) with a police guard 24/7. Got to hand it to Ernie, needing a guard from a roommate!
Ernie had apparently successful surgery for his fractured hip. His heart issues have stabilized and he will have a defibrillator implanted. His 3x weekly dialysis is continuing with a new port location. He has a neck brace for another 6-8 weeks for a C7 fracture. These are the current issues, others are still being monitored.
As the Docs are reducing his sedatives Ernie is more responsive and responding better.
He has been downgraded from a Trauma patient and will be transferred to a different hospital tomorrow in anticipation for the defibrillator surgery.
All in all it appears to have been a positive week.
I am hopeful that the next update will come from Ernie himself.
I continue to post well wishes from the IAP membership.
Keep Ernie in your thoughts; a long rehab is sure to follow.
