Anyone know the name of this material; and a vendor? It came to me a few years ago in a mixed box of pen blanks, kits and tools. Have not been able to match it up to photos on any of the 'big' vendor websites.

Thanks.

It looks like the commercial acrylic…
They are very random patterns so you never know what the character is until you get it.
John,
Thanks for the suggestion! Looked in my blank drawers and found a piece of that Aquabright. Turns out that, at least the example on hand, has none of the black that seems to separate the deep blue from the silvery white in the unidentified pieces.

The search continues.

My first thought was some kind of Kirinite as it usually has a thin ribbon running through it along with some level of pearlescence. Although I've also seen this same kind of combination and ribbon in a lot of Acrylic Acetate blanks too. - Sorry I don't have any suggestions. - Of course, the best of luck finding it (or something similar). - Dave

I think the first link Fred posted is the one you're seeking. I have a made pen that matches the blank in your initial post. I have been searching for it, but didn't have luck.

It's acrylic acetate (AA), and I recall receiving it several years ago from either Beartooth, Woodcraft, or possibly Exotic Blanks. My bet is it's a Berea AA.

My notes say the blank I used was named "Stormy Seas," but that doesn't match the blanks with that name currently. Vendors often come up with their own names.

Thank you to all who offered thoughts and help on this, the blank is...(simulated drum-roll)...159086 BLUE BAYOU from Woodcraft. That is actually a spindle blank-1.5" X 1.5" X 6"; not a pen blank. Obviously, the person who gave me the mixed lot of pen stuff had sawn the original into quarters. Found the answer at the local Woodcraft today.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!
