I tried a different style of calabash today- a Umeke. Spalted hickory, turned end grain and somewhat wet. If it cracks, I will try my hand at a pewa patch. If it stays relatively true I will add a top.
I looked up calabash when you posted the last one and it sounds like they usually are made with green wood. Maybe traditionally is a better word than usually? You've definitely found another beautiful blank to work with.
