Woke up to snow with more on the way so I decided to get my work done early. Today's job: 5 ultra bolt pens. We use ultra when the wood is more expensive or the figure is amazing to me. Few customers shy away from the $15 premium, so it allows me to play with more pricey timbers.

L to R
Indonesian lamtoro burl
Two tone golden amboyna burl
Spalted black box burl
Hawaiian curly koa (exhibition grade)
Blue box elder burl

All with 16 coats of CA.

The wood is beautiful!
I always feel privileged to turn wood like this. When the CA goes on and the buffing in finished I'm struck by how lucky I am to do this.

Not that my shop doesn't have heat (because it does) it does not have a fireplace.

Love those pens, and I love the terminology you use to describe and sell them. I can imagine a customer asking what makes the "ultra bolt" better, and how quick/easy the explanation would be.
