I would enter but I'm afraid my ugly pens would overload the system. Have some ideas but will have to wait until the next contest.

Nah, if you've got an ugly pen, just go ahead and enter it.
On the other hand, why would you design a pen just to be an ugly pen. The prizes are great, but not THAT great.
