Two Nouvelle Sceptres in Pewter

I really like the Pewter and Antique Brass finish on these Nouvelle Sceptres. One has been done in Black Ash Burl and one in Green Pearl by Eugene.

I decided to try the resin with nickel tubes and no back painting and I really like the results. The pen looks less cartoony and has some depth that you lose with the paint.

I guess my French isn't so good... that should be Nouveau Sceptre! And Bill, I agree, I think it has a real beachy ocean vibe...

Very nice work Eric !!! . I didn't know that nickel tubes were available in the size for the Nouveau Sceptre. . Where did you get them if you don't mind my asking ? And, are they the same size as for the Jr series of pens ?

Mal,
I used nickel Jr Gent tubes. Uncut, the upper tube will give you a little more length than the standard Nouveau Sceptre tube. You can compare the pictures to see the difference, the Black Ash Burl was done with the standard tube while the Green Pearl was done with the longer Jr Gent upper tube.

I love both. I understand your thought not to backpaint the blue... BUT... I would love to see it with a dark backpaint, just to compare. Yours looks free, easy, breezy (metaphors)... I wonder how it would appear with a darker backdrop?

Thanks Mark, I was going for an easy, breezy look for that pen. Since I live in a beach community, I get a lot of interest in my beachy themed pens, the ladies here love them. When I noticed the availability of the pewter and antique brass Nouveau Scepters, a style I haven't really done before, I thought it might be a good subject for this kind of pen.

I like the way the blue/green material almost looks like beach glass, a little weathered perhaps... The Black Ash Burl was chosen because it was light in color which continues the theme of weathered beach structures, but in a somewhat refined way by having a glossy finish. Anyway, those were my thoughts, I'm not sure I hit the target yet, but we will see when it gets shown to the public.

I also like doing bold striking materials but I usually save them for more masculine components.

... or a mountain spring with a small waterfall ... Perhaps its just me but the nickel seems to add a 'twinkle' and 'depth'.

PSI Carries them. I would normally have preferred to buy them from Exotic but they don't carry the Pewter.

Those are some really nice pens. I've used the nickel plated tubes before and they can really add some amazing depth to the blanks.
