I usually don't add splines to these but decided to change it up a bit. I really like the look with the splines. The box is maple and the splines and the internal sides are Sapelle. The inside bottoms and tops are blue faux leather. Initially the top and bottoms are engraved eagle designs.

I like the fact there's no evidence of the saw blade in the kerf.

After I separate the top and bottom, I run them through my drum sander. That works flawlessly.
