Both were made by sanding to 600, 10 coats of thin CA and then MM to 12000. The last step was Hut Friction Polish. Nice to get two pens out of one blank.
A question for you experienced turners... As I rounded this blank, I found small voids which, I know, is normal. I did not start using CA to stabilize until the last few millimeters. Is there any real need to do this earlier or do you just base it on whether the particular blank is higher on the solid side or higher on the crumbly side.
