I clean out the tube realy good before assembly. had this happen but not since I started making sure the tube had not accumilated foriegn material. . the fit on it is dead on.

Yeah. I'd not bothered with a pen mill, because I normally square off my ends in a 3-jaw chuck before turning down. I think maybe this is a sign that I need a mill which cleans out gunk, too.
