hello folks im looking for some good tools cheap to turn wood ive been using my dads tool the last few months since i have got in to turning i just bought me a lathe at wood craft to turn on and don't have a lot of money for tools. if some one could help me or tell me were to look for good and cheap tools that would be nice

I have a set of Craftsman tools that would probably get you started. Best of all, they're free and even better, I live in Conyers, so we can meet (perhaps at Starbucks) and I'll give them to you. Let me know if you're interested.

Believe it or not but I actually got a decent set of eight turning tools at harbor Freight a few years back that are something I turn with quite often. They were around $50-60 and are full size with maroon handles. The HSS is pretty good and they stay sharp as long as my brand name tools.

I have modified a couple to make negative rake scrapers.

I may have gotten lucky and it has some of that Jimmy Hoffa alloy in it from a crushed car the Chinese bought when scrap metal prices were so high.

Also a good way to learn to grind and sharpen tools since they are not that expensive and you can afford to goof up and experiment on them.
 
Look up Capt Eddie Castelin he has good quality carbide tools with low prices.
