I was thinking of buying some Easy Wood tools and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on them. Also I've heard reference to a woodchuck pen turning tool, Where do I get more info on them?

Pete, I don't know much about the Easy Wood tools except they are Quite Expensive, I make the Woodchuck tools in both a Pen size and a Bowl tool, I do know that My tools use the same Carbide inserts and the tools them selves also are made from Stainless Steel, and much less Expensive.

+1 on the Woodchuck.

I have the longer model for bowls but still use it comfortably on my pens. In fact that really all I use......

+1 on the Woodchuck Pen Pro. It is without question the best lathe tool I have ever used. I'm carbide cutter stupid and if I can get masterful results, anyone can! AWESOME TOOL!!!!

Ditto on the Woodchuck "How much wood would a Woodchuck chuck if a Woodchuck could chuck wood" A whole hell of a lot

I don't have any experience with the Woodchuck, but it sounds like people really like it.

I did buy the Easy Wood Tools about 2 weeks ago. I bought:
Ci2m Mini Rougher
and
Ci3m Mini Finisher

I watched the videos online at their website. They show using the Mini Rougher in a way that you plunge it strait into the turning material. I had problems using it that way with burls, and broke 2 of them. Also, because the cutter is flat across, the edges can catch on material if you try to run the tool left/right along the the tool rest. I see some of their full size tools offer a cutter with a slight arc, so maybe I'd prefer that style.

I do really like the Mini Finisher. It's makes a very smooth cut, and I've used it on about 10 pens so far, and haven't had to swivel the cutter around yet for a fresh edge. Very happy with that one.
