turning IPE

Any thoughts or experiences with using IPE? Had a pen crack in several places post finishing with CA. I may try to disassemble and stabilize. I do know it is harder than heck.

Many possible reasons for that kind of cracking . Wood not dry , Heat generated by drilling , turning , sanding . My approach on dense woods is to drill with water in the hole , removing chips after about 1/8 inch increments .Suspect stabilization may not help much on Ipe .
