man, is that stuff always hard? I've been working on some bowl blanks and they seem to be hard enough to turn my edge around on my gouges.

I've only turned some that was green after a hurricane in 2004. Turned out really nice but it does seem like it could be really hard if dry, kind of like pecan. Nice when it is green but like turning concrete once it dries.

Well that excplains it! I think I'll use it to sharpen my tools on from now on instead of a grinding wheel.[
