Definitely a case of making do with what 'ya got.

In "part 2"... did you notice the Rube Goldberg style stabilization system he's constructed to keep that mess form dancing across the shop?

That's pretty creative use of tooling. I also noticed several more Shopmiths in the background at one point so he must be putting them through their paces as this video shows.

They are probably the ones that got broken before he mounted it in his "spares".
Just joking to the Shopsmith owners.

He was thinking out of the box

He was diffently thinking out of the box... I am suprised the bearings in that Shopsmith held up I bet the runout on that thing is off the charts now. he is not going to be able to make anything of quality off that lathe any more.

Notice -- in the second video -- where he is using the plane on the log that his face shield is flappin' in the breeze not protecting his eyes, nose or pie hole one bit! Imagine what a catch with the plane would do to his chances of winning Miss Woodworker of the Year.

I sent the video to one of the people I work with saying this is how I start making a pen, he half way paid attention until he said 350 lb log..... LMAO

Try that? Most likely NOT.

However, I wouldn't have minded a seat in the shop watching him. I also would have liked to seen the end product in place.

Give him credit.......He made something to be proud of.
