Does any one know if there is a tutorial on turning wooden letter openers (blade and handle are wood). The whole item is turned on a lathe. I heard there is a jig or something to make it safe to turn the blade. anyone have ideas?

Yes, it is similar to turning a spatula. Greg has done one. Call and we could talk about how to do it.

I saw it and we discussed it there. I heard there is a jig to make turning the blade easier. I was hoping there would be someone here who knew about this. I have an idea how to do it without but as Greg says, it is rather scary. If the blade comes off the lathe it could stab the turner.
