This was one of the blanks given to me by Dean at the woodworking show last weakend. It is a " Turn Tex Cactus Blank" ( Turn Tex Woodworking ) in burgandy on a Craft Supplies USA Artisian Executive kit in 24k Gold. MM to 12,000, with 8 coats of thick CA, Plus a coat of One-Step Plastic Polish. The unique thing about this blank is that it is made with the inside of the cactus rather than the normal outside we see in other blanks. The fiber strands that run through the blank look like gold threads. Dean warned me to paint the tubes, or the brass may show through. But when I turned them I polished the brass instead so it would show through and complament the Gold fittings. It gave the blanks a very deep look. And ,yes, it is left proude on the end to give it a step effect and to show off the blank. Beautiful Blanks. Thanks Dean for the blanks, and Curtis for making them !!
