I was asking my father in law if he shot a turkey this year, if he would save the feathers for me. He told me he has a bunch from last couple years in his shed. Well come to find outthey were tail feathers.

I find it too difficult to carry my Remington 870 into the shopping center and shoot turkey's in the freezer:eek:

What you gonna do with them? Is it something to do with an ink well?

Turkey feathers are one of the hardest feathers to cast ecause they are so thick and stiff. You definately have to trim them because they are so wide. I think the wing feathers have the best color and character but the quills are so thick it makes them a real pain in the butt to sand them down to get them flat without being exposed when turning the finished blank down to size. You'll fine some real nice bronze color in some of the back feathers near the tail. Just be prepared to fight them all the way. Good luck !
