For those of you that make turkey pot calls, have any of you poured your own PR and used that as a striker plate? If you have how has it worked out or do you think it would work ok?

I have just started making turkey pot calls, have never tried to pour my own 'striker' plate..interesting question...certainly worth a try :)

I have seen acrylic sound boards for sale...when i saw those wondered how the resin would sound as the sound board..??

Hmmm. Never done that. Would like to maybe try pouring the pot but not sure how it would sound. I have only used slate and I think I did one with aluminum.

I've made quite a few - I have never seen a striker plate out of plastic/lucite...it too dead.

Glass, crystal, slate, copper, AL, bronze glass - have used all those. Sound boards I have some out of different materials, but not striker boards.

I am tossing around the idea of a striker handle made from PR.

i buy all my supplies from Brookside Game calls...good prices ans service.

That's where i get mine supplies from too. I don't think it will work to make the striker board out of plastic. Try to prove me wrong. I'm interested...

I buy from Brookside too. Have tried on some corian and it will sqauwk but wasnt cut thin enough for a striker plate. May do that some time. Have poured a call out of pr, came out good and have used pr pen blank for the top of a strikerbut not for the actuall striker tip. its an idea.

Knight and Hale made a corian striker plate call this year... Played it at Gander and wasn't very impressed with it.

Hard to beat slate - crystal and bronze glass a close second. I am making a bronze glass over slate in purple heart for a wounded warrior friend of mine. First one i have done banding one, looking good so far.

Just need to finish it and glue it up.
