Hi there,

I'm fairly new here but have been resin casting for quite some time now, and recently started on pen blanks. Did anyone ever figure out how to make something like the Tru-stone blanks at all?

Not that I've seen here. My understanding is that the "stones" require stone dust, resin (10%?) and significant heat and pressure. Also, the word was that Tru-Stone prices went way high because there was a significant environmental impact that had to be addressed, whatever that was.

The company which makes Tru-Stone is R T Research located in Tempe, AZ. It is available in two densities stone and pliable. Turners want the pliable which can be turned with HSS tools. They sell it by the pound and used to offer full brick, half brick and quarter brick. The brick in inches was approximately 11.5 X 5.5 X 4. Some of the "pliable" colors can be a bit brittle.
