Despite being a relative newcomer to custom pen making, I now find myself wanting to add the extras, such as clips and feature rings. I don't doubt that I am wandering into yet another minefield of different techniques/skills with firmly held opinions. Equally, I am sure that money will come into it at some point! I am also sure that the debate about clip vs no-clip, and decoration vs no-decoration is in here somewhere :). I can see an argument for both approaches, each simply being a different custom pen.

Can't think of a better place to ask for advice/help on getting started down this particular road. Tried searching on line but didn't get very far. Every time you mention the word "clip", I get lots of advice on how to make them. At this point, I am only interested in best ways to acquire and install them. The same goes for decorative rings, which I do realize I may have to make, compared to purchasing clips.

The fun of pen turning is one can make it as plain or decorative only limited by one's imagination. For instance, of the first pens I sold at a craft and antique mall was a Slimline pen in chrome with a maple blank colored with a red Sharpie.

I found that simple cigar pen clips are a size & price that meet my needs at < $1 each in 5 packs
Thanks Rick. I will look into that.

I absolutely agree. The only person that I am trying to satisfy is me. I am just looking for the next challenge, which is how we keep ourselves entertained.
