Tree branch from yard to lathe

Made all the pen kits I had, 8 of them, and ordered more. So, no more "play time" on the lathe. Mowed part of the lawn today, and move a chuck of branch out of the way. Thought, Damn, I'm gonna try this. It's been there a long time, part of a dead tree we had cut down.

Took in to the shop, and made this. From what I looked up, it's Red Maple. Slimline tube, finished with GluBoost

Nice job. Beware, you have started down the rabbit hole of no piece of wood being too small or ugly that it would not make a good pen blank. You will never again throw away a piece of wood.

The barrel doesn't belong to a kit, it was a pack of extras I bought for practice. It's 2-1/4 inches long, just need to find a 7mm pen kit it will fit.

Very nice blank. Does this make you a branch manager?
I follow FOG in woodturning and fly tying as there are loads of feathers under the bird feeders.
