For rings I use waste wood, e.g. the corners of cut bowl blanks, and cut wafers on the band saw.
Drill a hole according to your ring size
Polish the inside with an old drill and steel wool - which is fastened to the drill with hot melt glue
Rough cut the blanks on the bandsaw
This is my chuck for three ring sizes (16/18/20mm)
Attach blank with wedge cut from PVC. Turn, (?) buff, oil (if necessary, change blank in order to reach both sides up to the interior edge)
