Here is something I make for all my grandchildren. Each is different but basically the same size - diffenent wood and design - this one is made from Brazilian Cherry and Hickory.

That is so cool. I know they may not treasure it much now, but they will in later years. I still have the desk my father made me when I was maybe 12, which is well, 43+ years ago. They were at the house for the first time in probably 10 years (I normally go there as they have issues traveling) and I think it made him smile an extra bit when he saw it.
