Ahead of the curve. Waaay ahead.
I love the Argentum silver and the Gold Ti Berea uses in the Cambridge. The Silver is diamond bright, and the Gold Ti actually looks like gold (because it has some gold in it, if I've heard correctly.)

As the result of some interest in one of my Zebra composite pens, I have made a discovery. We all knew, of course, you could easily swap out the gold ti and silver bands in a Cambridge, but I just discovered how easy it is to break the inlay out of the clip. It's just epoxied in and easily comes free if pressure is gently and correctly applied. Thus it can be easily glued into a clip of the same color.

(Perhaps some of you already knew this, in which case, why didn't you tell me? Huh? Huh? Huh?  )

The one difficulty here would be separating the cap inset from the cap. It's looks like that's anchored in there by a post of some sort. Has anyone tried to swap those out, and thus confirm the difficulty?

I suppose it can be drilled out and then glued into another cap recess, but that strikes me as a bit flimsy.

Any suggestions?

Eric:
You are exactly right! The cap "doodah" will come out, but it is anchored with a post. I nearly distroyed the rest of the hardware, but I did get it out. It was ugly....as in keep getting bigger hammers:)

I found a cheat that works well. The Roman Harvest cap fits the same tubing as Cambridge (well, at least with a file or epoxy, as RH tube sizing is "all over the place" and varies GREATLY from set to set).

The doodah in the cap of the RH pops out just like any of the Dayacom sets. You can use the cap section of the RH WITHOUT the flat tab washer, et al. the Cambridge clip fits onto the RH "head" just fine.

I found this after futzing with a Cambridge cap for nearly two hours. The finish is not "different enough" for anyone but a penmaker to notice and with Kiwi Natural shoe polish, you can make the finish match eactly.

I found this 5 minutes before throwing the Cambridge cap assembly through a sheetrock wall.

Respectfully submitted.
