I'm torn between making my own, more personalized blank or a ready made one. What's your favorite blank for this firefighters pen?

I gave these to two firefighters and they loved them. probably could have made enough for entire firefighter company. I made the thin red line blank. Red and black acrylic. Glued with epoxy. No casting. The other is an inlay kit. My next ones will be a firefighters watch dial. It is in my que for kits to be done.

My choice would be alumilite thin red line blank from Turner's warehouse instead of the Berea or PSI, brittle as heck, poly resin. Berea has AA designator but the fine print says the thin line blanks are poly.

Is there a dealer that sells them with a lower shipping cost?

I was able to get some hose from my local fire department. They were a pain to turn because the hose would absorb the glue so it would fray as it was turned. I had to keep putting CA on it so I could turn it to size. The finished product looked great IMHO. I tried using a water slide decal to put the logo on top of the hose but wasn't pleased with the outcome. There's also one that I used a vinyl logo on cloth and clear cast.

As another option, I find the yellow segments on the sample photo for PSI's Black/yellow firefighter pen to be nice.

Like Kenny, I used a fire hose blank. Thin CA after every couple of passes to keep they fraying to a minimum. Took about twice as much CA to finish it than I would use on any other blank.

Make your own… introduce real time scorches. I used some cheap maple and hit it with a micro torch… finished with CA

Can you share where you got this blank?

Some awesome pens any firefighter would be more than pleased to have! I have been a professional firefighter and a volunteer firefighter both for over 50:years. Back to the blank that has flames, all I have to say is it is awesome! ….
