Tortoise Shell Fountain Pen

Hi, all. I had a piece of tortoise shell blank in my stash, and decided to try the Zen fountain pen kit. The blank was JUST big enough for the kit - it matched the tube length exactly. I painted the tube black and used the gun metal fountain pen kit. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, but will soon. If it writes well, it may be a good choice for those with smaller hands or who prefer a lighter pen.

I presume that blank is an acrylic blank named "Tortoise Shell" .... or is it the "real thing" ?

Thanks, Mal. It's not original tortoise shell. I think it's some kind of celluloid or acetate. I got it from an IAP Member a few years ago.
