I finished this pen up today. I made it from tortoise shell acetate, and fabricated the metal components from argentium silver wire. This was a lot of fun to make, and challenging as well (especially soldering the overlay together), and I am pleased with how it turned out .

You are RIGHT to be PLEASED !!! . That is an exquisite pen !!!

Very unique design and very skillful workmanship !!! . I can hardly believe that the overlay is soldered together ! . Much handwork as well !

The simpler method would be to use a flat sheet, pierce the design with a jeweler's saw, then roll up and solder the seam. I didn't have any thin sheet, so I improvised a bit. This also produced little to no scrap bits of metal that I have to melt down and reclaim.
