Tops, they can be a good way to learn how to use tools on a lathe. I too make a few tops now and then. I have combined my other hobby scrollsawing, with turning and come up with tops like this. I found balance to be the biggest factor to keep tops spinning. Also found out do not make the handles to high. I have seen some real fancy tops and lost the guy's web site but he made tops that cost in the thousands of dollars. Looking at your collection on the table and the one that jumped out at me and now I have to try is the watch part one with the watch dial on it. I like that idea being we do watch part pens here. A pocket watch would work for that. I want to at some time do some casting also. Some of the techniques we use in pens can carry over into top making. Thanks for the video and well done.
