tool rest info

I bought a tool rest for bowl turning minus the tool post. It is an "S" style rest and for $5 I couldn't resist. I don't have any idea what lathe it is for. I have a NOVA with a 1" post and want to find a tool post for this. I can make one if need be, but would rather have the one that was made for it. Any idea on who might have made this thing?

I had in the past been wondering if all tool rest would fit all lathes? I'm not sure. I would like to get a longer one as I keep having to move mine back and forth when I'm turning a piece of wood. That tool rest is interesting looking. A long time ago I saw a set of them on CL for $25.00 for the set and I wished I had gotten them. Maybe one of these days I will get lucky and find some thing... any tool rest will fit any lathe - given the following conditions:

1. the post must be the same diameter as your banjo
2. the tool rest must reach the center of the spindle of your lathe

other than that - go for it.
