I need some information on making a handle for a file I have. I can turn just fine... I do not know where to get and how to make fit the brass ring that I think helps to hold the file in the turned handle. Any suggestions? thanks in advance

I will send you a wood block(for handle) and a brass ferrule at no charge, just pay shipping(actual). Your choice: beech, cherry, maple, walnut, makore.

I buy brass flare (or fairing) nuts from the plumbing aisle. Turn a tennon on my handle, thread the nut (let it cut its own threads). Once the threads are complete, I add some thick CA to the brass thread and screw it down permanently. Then turn the corners smooth on the nut. The Thompson Tool article, linked earlier, shows similar process.

I have also used 3/4" aluminum or copper tubing.
