... or would that be tool galoot? My wife saw a yard sale yesterday and wanted to stop. I found a box under that had wood handles sticking out and a $15 price. I snagged it as soon as I saw what was on top. There is lots more stuff, including 4 braces, a roll of bits, and some things I don't have a clue about. The coffin plane is a Sandusky #3 that works great. The breast drill is I think a Miller- Falls. The other drill is a 2 speed Yankee 1445. There is also a Luther Bros. clamp on hand crank grinder. I have to get better coordination to use it.

I'm in the process, a little at a time, of building a display case for these and some of my others. The wood I'm using is part of my Great Grandfather's barn. It was built in 1870 from trees on our farm. The case is being built with the tools I'm going to display. So far the only power tool used was the lathe, to turn some dowels.

Good find. My father is in the process of slowly passing on many of my grandfathers tools to me. To slowly if you ask me, I'm the only one of 5 that has any interest in woodworking.

Yard sales are made for finding these awesome tools....I am in awe when I find one and grip it thinking of the hands that gripped it before me and leveraged it's abilities

I only display them in my garage and shop in that I don't have the time or energy to use them but who knows maybe someday?

In Afghanistan this is still all they use... all old school hand tools many much more primitive and they whip up buildings so in the right hands they can be leveraged and do the job well
Blessings!
