I've been really busy lately and haven't had much time to do any posting. I've grabbed a few minutes to post a tool gloat.

Background: There was an estate auction advertised in the newspaper about two weeks ago. It advertised antique furniture and woodworking tools. I had never been to auction before and this past weekend didn't have anything scheduled so Dad said that we could check it out.

Here is what we came home with, and what we paid for it.

A Rockwell 14 inch Bandsaw with a half dozen brand new blades and 32 inch guide rail-fence combo thing.
$110

A BRAND-SPANKING-NEW Powermatic 1.5 Hp Dust Collector. The thing is 2.5 years old and has never been used!
$150

An assortment of turning tools, several never used. Four of them are Sheffield, England HSS.
$30

So, how'd we do? [}:)] :D

BTW, I had a blast with the whole auction experience, it was pretty cool. I would definitely do it again!

Nice little haul there, the bandsaw looks like one of the earlier Rockwell era so it may still be very much "Deltaish" and one of the better ones.

The DC?? Well, I would say it sucks just a hair less than you do for that good of a deal! [;)]

The top photos are lathe tools, the bottom 2 batches are wood working chisels, not lathe tools.. But $30 just for that set of Henry Taylors is sweet deal all by it self!

Not sure about the top tools, are there any markings on them? The handles look nice, but the steel seems to call out "China" to me, but I could be wrong..

Overall, awesome deal on everything!

Ditto on the carving tool catch. And the turning tools certainly appear to be China made. OTOH, the China tools aren't necessarily bad. I had some good luck with a set. They can vary though. The biggest problem might just be a very short tang in the handle. A short tang can make the tool dangerously weak and should be checked before being used.

Great haul and sure is gloat worthy.

You'll love that PM DC. [^]

The bottom 2 pics are carving tools as mentioned and if you won't use/need them...I would love to take them off your hands for more than what you paid for them [;)][}:)]
