The last one of our cats we got almost 16 years ago. Munchkin was the runt of the litter and came into the family as the groomer, he always would be found snuggling or grooming his black brothers from another litter.

My oldest daughter is seen here with him, they just adore each other.

He started acting up about a week ago, thought it was allergies from being in a different environment (he had a few issues last year as well when we came to Kansas from Canada).

We took him to the vet on Monday, had some blood tests done, results showed he had bad kidney disease. We got some pills the vet suggested, and some medicated food but he wont eat at all. Yesterday we took him back in and the vet gave him some IV fluids. Last night he got sick and we spoke to the vet today. We love this guy a lot and don't want to see him suffer.

We are spending today with him and taking him in tomorrow to end his suffering. Been a rough summer as we lost one of the black litter in June and the last one in Oct. (Munchkin took loosing his last brother hard) :frown:

Thanks for listening.

Jason

Jason, sorry to hear your bad news. Putting down a pet is one of the hardest things to do. It ends their suffering, but leaves a void in the family. Tomorrow will be a difficult day....

Jason, so very sorry about your losing your cat. We have one currently and know how tough it is to lose a family member as close as our cats become to us. Save your memories they are precious.

So sorry for the decision you've had to make, but it's the right one. I hate to see animals suffer because their owners aren't strong enough. Thank You for being compassionate! I hope your little guy gave your family lots of pleasure over the years you had him. In time please consider adopting another one (or two) from a local shelter. We adopted 4 former "no hopers" from a 'last resort' shelter & they are so different from when they were in 'jail'.

Thanks Everyone!

We put him down about 5 hrs ago. We all got to have a great goodbye with him, but it was time for him. He was one of the sweetest cats I have ever known. Some cats bite, and scratch, but his worse was that he would lick your hand/arm raw or steal your warm seat.

Thanks again, all your kind words mean a lot!

Jason

Last winter one of my kitties got outside (an indoor cat - Devon Rex...Little hair) and had to tough it for 2 days in below zero weather. I spend 2 days outside looking and calling!

My only thought was that this should not be the way for her to go. I wanted her to live a full healthy life (she was 8 then) and to be with us at the end. Her needs are few - a warm bed, food and water, and a shelf with a space heater to watch me when I am turning; she is a critical supervisor!

She did return in good shape. Hopefully to be with use at the end.

I will make the same decision you made someday!

My thoughts are with you.

It's heartbreaking
We lost our cat just a year ago.
Hazel, our daughter, stopped up with her all night and it was hard taking her into the vet next morning.
So sorry to hear about your loss.
Thinking of you,
John

Sorry to hear, Jason. I feel your pain. I lost one of my furry best pals last week.

Helping them gently on to the next world at the right time is a hard decision. But I look at it as our final gift to them for all the love and friendship they've given us.

My thoughts to you and your family.

Sorry to hear this news. Pets are members of the family. Last week we had to make the very hard decision to put my buddy to sleep. He was 14 and had internal bleeding. The vet advised that they'd have to do exploratory surgery to figure out where the bleeding was, that they might not be able to fix it and that at his age any surgery would probably kill him.

Sorry for your loss too David. You made the right choice too.
