About halfway through my shaving brush project.
This is what I finished today. Brush knots are loose. I am just turning handles for this project.

I like the purple and blue ones out of this batch.

Very nice..........

...........I just do not know of many folks that shave w/suds. Seems the spray foam and electric razors rule in the modern times. Do they sell as nice as nicely as they look? Thanks and be well........Jan

If you've not shaved with a brush, you're missing out.
I started using a brush and Art of Shaving cream about two years ago. I'll never go back to shaving cream in a pressurized can!

Very nice work! I need to do one of these myself though stuff for my personal use tends to get moved to the bottom of the list.

Great looking set of shaving brushes! Like the first set with the colorful and unique patterns and beautiful shape of the handles. Great job!

Awesome. Doing a couple of these is on my list. If you learn any tips along the way, please share!

Some of the things I did to make it easier.
One was finishing both ends before turning the body.
On Translucent blanks I used a jab chuck so threads from using a threaded mandrel won't show through.
I also fit the knot by scraping a smaller hole to get a better fit.
I hope the pictures help somewhat. I took a lot of the process using both a threaded mandrel and the jamb chuck.

Jim

Glad I thought to search before asking about whether anyone turned "between centers", or using a jam type setup rather than threaded mandrels! I'm considering turning a piece of scrap wood to 30mm (and to each of the other sizes of knots I have) and using those in my 4-jaw chuck to jam in the knot end and a piece of scrap wood on the other end to keep from dimpling it with the dead center.

When I try using a threaded mandrel, I usually end up stripping out the threads in the blank whenever I get my first catch. And then the turning has to go very very light to keep it spinning.

Looks like you beat me to something very much like that setup!

Wetshaving all the way. And if TAOS is the only place you've discovered shaving supplies, check out straightrazordesigns.com and alsshaving.com. And Mama Bear shaving soaps. Both vendors I highly recommend without reservation.

Just go to Badger and Blade. You'll find alot more people using de's and straights than you ever could imagine. I haven't bought a can of whipped goo in over two years.
